Early Batwoman Kathy Kane (11th Appearance), Origin Of Robin "The Web of the Spinner" Batman and Robin encounter a new costumed villain, the Spinner, whose metal uniform is overlaid with spinning discs, and who utilizes a spinning buzz-saw gun, tops, and giant fans in his arsenal of tricks. The heroes are dazzled by the reflected light of the sun from the Spinner's colored-glass fan and thus are unable to stop the gang's escape, but a slang word used by the Spinner common among Joliet Prison inmates gives Batman a clue to his identity.

Batman #502 (1993) Kelley Jones Cover & Mike Manley Pencils, Doug Moench Story "Phoenix in Chaos" Jean-Paul Valley, as Batman, has just narrowly evaded being shot dead by Mekros - a self-hypnotized super-soldier and hitman for hire - who has instead shot his employer, Don Mercante. Jean-Paul uses the light built into his Batsuit to project the bat-symbol onto the wall, tricking Mekros into thinking that he has shot down Batman. Jean-Paul uses the opportunity to sneak onto the roof that Mekros is hiding on. They battle, and Batman is knocked off the roof, allowing Mekros to escape, but not before Batman is able to sow seeds of doubt in his mind that the men who hired him aren't planning to pay.

Batman tried to speak his way out but when Lockhart decided to attack him with the knive-thrower's help a lion appeared out of nowhere to attack Lockhart. Batman tackled down the lion and everyone left the place. Batman was about to fight the lion when a clown appeared from out of the darkness and calmed the animal. The clown then told Batman how Lockhart did killed his uncle to get the circus for himself. That was the reason why Two-Face tracked him.
